We are pleased to announce that the festival this year will take place over the weekend of 14th-16th November.
After a lot of planning, we’ve made some exciting changes to this long running event. Details of all these changes and names of the performers lined-up, will be appearing here very soon and on our Facebook page.
Despite record attendances on the Pub Trail and capacity audiences in the acoustic venue of Tenby Rugby Club, numbers were down in 2013 at the main venue, the De Valence.
Research conducted by Pembrokeshire College students showed that local music lovers were perhaps deterred from attending the De Valence because of their unfamiliarity with the headlining acts.
There’ll be no such problem this year. We are proud to announce that the star act on the Saturday will be legendary Welsh musician Andy Fairweather Low and his band the Lowriders www.andyfairweatherlow.com
Andy first came to prominence in the 1960s with chart topping blue eyed soul band Amen Corner before developing a solo career in the 1970s and achieving a world wide smash with ‘Wide Eyed and Legless’.
Since then he has toured extensively as a member of some of the hottest acts in rock’s bands, including the late George Harrison (Beatles), Roger Waters (Pink Floyd), Bill Wyman (Rolling Stones) and most recently with Eric Clapton.
Now Andy goes out with his own band once more and will be coming to Tenby in November as part of his European ‘Zone-o-Tone’ tour.
Tickets are not yet on sale, but reservations can be made through www.tenbyblues.co.uk or via their Facebook page.
Supporting Andy on the night will be Festival president Pat Grover and his band the Hawks plus emerging young talent Mark Pontin and his group whose ‘Days of Destiny’ album is currently getting great critical acclaim. www.markpontingroup.com
Saturday 15th – The Rugby Club.
Saturday night’s gig in the jook joint, otherwise known as Tenby Rugby Club, will put the spotlight on women in the blues and we are pleased to feature two of the most amazing young female talents in British blues.
Headlining will be Lucy Zirins, winner of the British Blues Awards ‘Young Artist of the Year” 2013. Her debut album, Chasing Clocks, produced by Michael Messer is out now.
Support will come from Bella Collins and her band the Blue. Bella has one of the most formidable voices in Welsh blues and she performs a wide range of material with sensitive and passionate support from her band of veterans of the Cardiff blues and r’n’b scene, whose past combos include Snatch It Back, Red Beans and Rice, plus the Madassa Soul Band.
Further details of the festival programme will be released shortly.
We think the festival is shaping up to be the best yet!
Stay tuned to the website and Facebook, Twitter etc. for news.
