It has been heat-warming to see and hear the grateful comments and compliments that have been showered on ‘the organisers’ after the festival. We few are grateful in turn, to all the people who worked loyally to make the 8th. Tenby Blues one that we will all remember. Thank you to the sponsors, Valero, Pembrokeshire County Council, FBM, and The Fourcroft Hotel.
Thank go to the teams of Tenby & South Pembs. volunteers, the landords and venue owners, and those who bought tickets to the main gigs and who bought T shirts. Thanks also to Pembrokeshire College business students who compiled statistics for us, and the journalists and dj’s who helped spread the news. Finally, thank go to Span Arts who handled the ticket sales for us this year.
Tickets to the main 4 gigs are the only way for us to recoup the ever escalating costs of putting on all the gigs we squeeze into 3 days in November. This year we did not sell enough tickets to cover the costs, despite the fact that all of us work for nothing, and therefore the future of Tenby Blues hangs in the balance.
We are currently looking into the factors behind the facts, but we already know that many Pembrokeshire people chose not to come and that although the free events brought some people into town to stay, they didn’t buy tickets for the main events.
We also realise that the festival has hardly any appeal at all, to anyone under the age of 40. We are trying to see these as a challenge to be addressed next year but we have to find ways to clear the debts before thinking about next year.
We are hopeful that there is a way despite losing a couple of key people who have been in it from the start, but nobody is indispensable and if there is enthusiasm there is a future.
Here’s a reminder of the great time we all had:-
