TBF/SPan Arts Blues gig Friday 7th. June
Spring will soon be here, which mean’s the cotton pickin’ Blues Festival slaves have been working hard on the chain gang devising the 2013 festival. The Festival line up is still top secret, but you can bet on amazing music from all over the world of Blues and roots.
We can now announce that we have partnered with the dynamic Span Arts organisation based in Narberth and have agreed with them to present a blues show at The Queens Hall Narberth on Friday 7th. June. We also hope to do another show in September leading up to the festival in November.
The Queens Hall Narberth on Friday 7th. June 8pm £10/£9
Tenby Blues and Span Arts are pleased to present two of the leading British blues players as a taster gig for the November event. We invited Jay Tamkin to the festival in 2009 when he was a teen sensation, since then he has matured into a fine performer.
Jay Tamkin is a multidimensional, multi-talented singer/songwriter and instrumentalist who has been likened to Stevie Winwood and a young Jimi Hendrix. He writes all his own music and has over 30 songs published, with two albums already released.
He played four tracks live on the Paul Jones BBC Radio 2 Blues show and has toured Europe & USA extensively & played at almost all the music festivals in the UK, including the main stage at Glastonbury, and several in Europe.
He’s played with, and alongside, Robin Trower, Eric Burdon, Chris Farlowe, Madeline Bell, Roy Ayers, Poppa Chubby, Pat Travers, The Groundhogs, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Blockheads and many, many more.
He has just played Twickenham Stadium to open the show for the Yardbirds 50th. Anniversary gig!
The band are Jay Tamkin – Guitar, Lapjack, Vocals: Rik ‘Howling’ Christiansen – Keys: and Nick Ramos Pinto – Drums.
There’s no doubt that congenital talent is at work here: Classic Rock magazine.
Make no mistake…this is the arrival of somebody VERY special on the British music scene: GTFM radio.
“I thought that they were stunning, absolutely tremendous, one of the best Festival performances this year”: BIRMINGHAM 27th INTERNATIONAL JAZZ & BLUES FESTIVAL Organiser
We discovered the talented soloist Chris Quinn at the last festival in 2012 when he accompanied Arthur Ebeling, and we were really impressed with his talent.
Chris Quinn is fast becoming known as one of the finest acoustic guitarists and singers on the scene today. His song writing has been widely acclaimed in the national press and he has a growing reputation as a great live performer.
Already well known on the UK folk and roots scene as part of duo Hickman and Quinn, Chris has more recently joined the world famous Robin Nolan Trio, one of the hottest gypsy jazz acts on the planet!
During his time playing and travelling the globe, highlights have included playing at BB Kings Blues Club in New York, touring with Hickman & Quinn as the opening act with The Jools Holland Orchestra, a gig at Cambridge Folk Festival and a 2013 booking at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Chris’ solo gigs cover a wide range of contemporary acoustic music, from inventive bluegrass flat-picking to beautiful interpretations of British folk songs and from hot swing jazz pieces to mean finger style delta blues guitar.
